you sorting... here?!

well, i think you have a better place to sort your mails, which people often times like to call "post office." man, you belong there. go back to where you are supposed to be working at. it's not a joke. it's a serious business, man.

retro finds

i was passing by Housing Works in Tribeca the other day and found out that they were having a blow-out sale. i went in and saw a section that said "all CD, vinyls, books $1". so, these are my finds. i have no idea how they sound. i just picked those because they all had cool cover. but oh well, they were on sale any way.

i don't think it's bad

people think everything is expensive in nyc, but look at this pic. $1 for a slice of pizza. i don't think it is bad. it is actually a good deal. it's like going against the natural, unavoidable inflation of the value of currency in this society. amazing. but the quality wise, i don't know. i haven't tried it yet, and i probably never will. the below is the b&w image of the pic, to kinda mimic a pic from good old-days. fun.

a visit to brooklyn

i often visit brooklyn to meet designers at their studio or do some research on its retail scene. there are a lot of new businesses and artisans growing in brooklyn. and one by one, they are migrating and invading  the retail market in manhattan. just to see some of them successfully made the transition and establishing their businesses in more competitive environment is just inspiring.

garage flea

i have been visiting lots of flea markets. it is very fun to shop regardless of whether it is for yourself or for work. i just love the feeling of finding cool items at a bargained price. and i must say, i am pretty good at it.

a studio visit

i visited a letterpressing studio for the first time. one of the designers who i have business with, gave me a tour and walk-through of letterpress printing process. i was amazed by how much work involved in the process and i now appreciate the beautiful work of letterpressing more. i must explain this to all of my customers in japan. it is my mission.

fashion's night out (recap. too late?)

on the night of fashion's night out, i decided to only visit marc by marc jacobs on bleeker, and ace hotel. why? because it was only a day after my 12-hour flight back from japan. surprisingly, i was fine, out at night. here are the pics. i also checked out bookmarc, the recent addition to marc jacobs retail empire. the store was AWSOME! i can say that much. detail? you kinda have to visit there, to truly understand why it is the coolest store in the city at this moment. new concept. cheers!

last day in japan

on the last day of my two-month-long stay in japan, i got to stay in tokyo. so i decided to visit all the cool spots that i wanted to visit.tokyo's tokyo (haneda airport) >>> rin (aoyama) >>> spiral (aoyama) >>> kitson (harajyuku) >>> topshop (harajyuku) >>> all the shops in laforet (harajyuku) >>> h&m (harajyuku) >>> forever21 (harajyuku) >>> opening ceremony (shibuya) >>> 109 (shibuya) >>> matsukiyo (shibuya) ... i chose these places only to study the retail scene in tokyo. otherwise, i would never want to vist h&m in tokyo, when there are 10,000 h&m stores in manhattan. good-bye, japan, good-bye nihon!!!

gem found in yamaguchi

LB Furniture Works is a woodworking company designing and creating furniture and small goods. Their  creation is amazing and I am so proud that they base in my hometown, Yamaguchi, Japan. So why not exporting their amazing products to NYC???
Last weekend, I had a meeting with the artist behind this creative company and we agreed that we should work on some collaborative project! So exciting! I can't believe that this is all happening in this small city of Yamaguchi!!!

yeah i am talking business

i went to fukuoka, japan to have a business meeting.  little by little. one baby step at a time. something is moving forward and something has started to form. it is at a speed of baby walk, but i try not to think about what will be ahead. i just trying to complete what i see in front of me every day...
