MP says hi! I am so sorry for the blurry-ness of the pic....

last saturday, i visited Mike Perry's studio again. this time Mike was having Studio Sale (from nov. 27th to dec 1st), so i went to check it out. it was AWESOME and Mike gives us pretty good deal on EVERYTHING!  my husband and i bought so much! the whole experience at the Studio Sale was very unique to me. i was literally  "shopping" for art works, which you don't get to do so often. the experience was something similar to the madness of browsing through the sales rack at your favorite store. my consumerism mentality was prominently there when i was browsing though "piles" of mike's arts and "things" he;s created. seriously i have NEVER felt anything like it. i don't know what it is, but there was something about this experience, i will continue to contemplate on. nice going, Mike, and thank you!!!!!

for those, who are in ny should definitely check out this sale and visit his amazing studio. the sale is until dec 1st, so go dig it!

BTW, i apologize for the bad and blurry pics. my camera is wack.

my collage works (just for fun)

my collage circa 2005

my collage circa 2005

i just remembered that i used to do collage, like theses ones, and loved it. i don't know why or how i learned to do collage but one day i realized that i knew how to do collage and how much i loved doing it. interesting thing is that i can make the ones like these in 10 minutes! when i get down to it, i don't need to think hard about the layout. it just happens and happens very quickly. i think i will start doing it again.  just for fun.

my retail therapy

whenever i lose sense of what is "cool", i go to project no.8 at ace hotel. i examine very carefully each piece and try to absorb as much information as possible, while i am there. it's like therapy to me. or maybe more like, taking shower in the morning. i go into the store, browse through,  get brown away by its elements and details of selections, display and mood, and by the time  leave the store, i feel like i am a completely new person, with  a completely new perspective towards what is "cool". same thing happens, when i visit partners&spade. i love new york so much because of these two stores. i adore them so much. they sort of guide me through visualizing and constructing what my personal design and style aesthetic is. knowing that is very important to me especially for my business, since i am alway required to have a strong and unique approach in choosing designers and artists that i work with, and the way i promote these talents. and project their image. so i am always thankful for their generosity of sharing their awesomely cool sense of style and design aesthetic with us.

white box madness and i am in love.

WHITE BOX in NYC always gives the best opening reception. I always find myself trying to figure out what it is so cool about the reception they hold. The other day I visited one of them and just blown away by the cool "down-town" chic vibe. I was so comfortable and pleased to be in the midst of the cool madness and try to absorb cultural energy as much as  I could. Currently, I am working on this project to have an art show for one of the artists in NYC, in my hometown in Japan. This is why it is my time to study the good art events like this, and I've learnt so much from White Box!
